The last several weeks have been busy with the details of the ride and associated funding activities. Unfortunately, the support that we sought from the BMWMOA through the annual rally in Bloomsburg, PA in July will not be coming. There are apparently just too many needy causes out there and the platter is full for the BMWMOA. No matter, we will be aggressively pursuing the support of the BMW community through individual contributions.
The Rally in July is still a big part of the activity we are targeting in that the proximity to Camp Victory necessitates some interaction and collaboration for the kids. We will be visiting Camp Victory on the evening of July 20 to get to meet the kids and parents. I am will be doing a short presentation on the ride and then will have the kids sign the panniers of the bike as a symbolic bestowing of blessings for the ride. Yes, I know, the ride is still a little over 11 months away, but I just can’t wait to get the kids involved in the event. Promises to be interesting!
For those of you who have already contributed, Thanks! We are currently at $350, a long road to the $25K goal. If you have not yet thrown in your hard earned cash, please do so. Click here to go to the Contribution Website. Just click the “Sponsor Participant” option on the left and put in my name (Ted Danforth) in the new window. The rest is easy. We have simplified the site somewhat to make it easier to contribute. Momentum is key, please help by contributing today. As soon as I figure out how to do it, I will post a graphical summary of contributions to date.
For those of you in a corporate environment – help me get your companies signed-up to do matching contribution. I am working with the White Wave Foods (the makers of Silk) facility in Bridgeton, NJ to work out the details of such a program. White Wave’s mission is focused on providing healthy, nutritional foods to customers – a goal that supports the issues related to arthritis. If all goes well, the local facility will match contributions by employees.
